Kwantlen Student Association Troubles Continue

The Kwantlen Student Association is undergoing some problems at the present time. In August, I reported that a lawsuit between the KSA and several Kwantlen students had settled. In accordance with that settlement, a new election is taking place this semester. However, the four students are complaining that the KSA has breached the settlement agreement, and are applying to the Supreme Court of British Columbia [PDF] for an order declaring, inter alia, the executives to be in contempt of court.

Titus, the link isn't working. I'd love to know what the KSA execs are doing...

FYI,

This will go before the Downtown BC Supreme Court this Friday at 9:45 am

We had applied for short leave to have it meet today, but Donald Crane, lawyer representing the respondents, asked for an extension until Friday and we said okay.

If it had gone before the Court today, the part where the students of Kwantlen are asking for jail time and / or fines was not going to go before the judge today. I’m not 110% sure if having the extension means the whole thing goes before the court on Friday.

If the jails and / or fines part does not happen on Friday, it will probably happen within the next one to two weeks.

I hope to post the affidavits in support of the petition to my site over the weekend; along with the exhibits for not only this new petition, but the one from the summertime.

Thanks to Titus for keeping Canada informed about what is happening at Student Unions across the Nation.
